Mary L. Longo

Mary Louise Longo, 95, passed away on October 12, 2020, at St. Francis Home in Fond du Lac, with the added care of Hospice. Mary was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on March 27, 1925, to Guiseppe Emanuele and Maria Ricciardi.

Mary was united in marriage to Vincent Longo on June 7, 1947, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Milwaukee. After 65 years of marriage, Vincent passed away on September 9, 2012.

Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She worked right next to her husband as his clerk at The Village Cobbler shoe repair store on Main Street in Fond du Lac. When she was not working during the weekdays, she was always cooking Italian food and caring for her family. Sunday dinners with everyone around the table were common gatherings, filled with pasta, love, and joking around. She had a special devotion to Mary the Mother of Jesus and could often be found praying the rosary. Mary was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.

During her final years at St. Francis Home, she enjoyed joking with the staff while sitting in her favorite, blue chair just outside her room. The nightly treat of ice cream was always something she looked forward to before going to bed.

She will be missed but will be carried in the hearts of her family as they continue her legacy and traditions that she began.

Mary is survived by her children: Sr. Hertha Longo, CSA, Vincent and Marybeth (Reinhardt) Longo,          Joseph and Nanette (Curran) Longo, Mark Longo and Kathleen Gregor (girlfriend), Maria (Longo) and Bob McDermot, and Catherine (Longo) and Timothy Abler; grandchildren are: Vincent and Meghan (Conger) Longo, Christina Longo, Sal and Tara (Glaser) Longo, Laura (Longo) and Jay Rommelfanger, Vicki (Longo) and Tony Strobel, Tanya and Joe Blackburn, Noah Longo, Joseph and Emily (Smith) Longo, Brenna McDermot, and Andrew McDermot; great-grandchildren are: Bryson Longo, Addison Longo, Kennedy Rommelfanger, Sophie Rommelfanger, Luke Strobel, Charlie Strobel, Jaydyn Longo, Josalyn Longo, Joryn Longo, Justin Longo, and Jacklyn Longo.

She is further survived by special lifelong friend Fr. Edward Sippel and family pets Maverick, Marley, and Chief (Doggie).

Mary was preceded in death by her husband Vincent, sons Terance X and Jude Longo, grandchild Tanya Longo, and great-grandchild Jack Longo.

There will be no visitation due to COVID-19. A private family ceremony with burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery.

The family is extremely grateful for the care, love, and support that St. Francis Home staff and Hospice gave to Mary during the final years of her life; therefore, the family prefers that memorials be given to St. Francis Home in lieu of flowers.
