Maya Rose James

With broken hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Maya Rose James on July 22, 2026. Maya was born on June 8, 2015 in Fond du Lac.

Maya was a bright light whose beautiful blue eyes and endless energy brought joy to everyone around her. She loved spending time with her family, whether it was at the dirt track, watching demolition derbies, or creating arts and crafts together. She was happiest when she was surrounded by the people she loved and was always ready for the next adventure.

Maya had the kindest heart. She was always willing to help anyone who needed it and never hesitated to show compassion. She also had a wonderfully spirited personality. She wasn’t fond of hearing the words “no,” “stop it,” or “get along,” and she always tried to have the last word. Those moments made her uniquely Maya and will forever bring smiles to the faces of those who knew and loved her.

She leaves behind her loving mother, Ashley James, and stepfather, Brandon Thielman; her younger sister, Catherine Thielman; her father, Christopher Maas; her sisters, Brianna Maas, Brittany Wallschleager, and Tiffany Markiewicz; and her brother, Tim Simon.

Maya was deeply loved by her grandparents, Todd James and Coleen Brocker, Carol and Larry Maas, and by her great-grandparents, Nancy and Larry James. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, many aunts, uncles, extended family members, and grandparents who embraced her as one of their own.

SERVICES: Maya’s family invites relatives and friends to Holy Family Catholic Church on Thursday, August 6th for a time of visitation from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Zacherl Funeral Home, 875 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac, in care of Maya James.
