Myron “Doc” O. Bartelt
Myron “Doc” O. Bartelt, 98, of Fond du Lac, died on Saturday, December 24, 2022, at St. Agnes Hospital.
He was born on October 15, 1924, in Waucousta, WI, the son of Oscar and Frieda Schoetz Bartelt. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army, landing on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. On June 7, 1947, he married Jeanette Valis. She preceded him in death on April 20, 1993. On November 25, 1994, he married Mary Lou DeRusha-Silah.
Doc worked as a milk and bread route salesman. He operated his own bar Bartelt’s Bar and Grocery in Waucousta. He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool, playing cards and was an avid Packer and Brewer fan. Doc liked to cook, bake and sing. He was a member of Holy Family Parish, an active member in Evening Optimist and Eagles Aerie 270. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family and he was so proud of all of them.
He is survived by his wife Mary Lou Bartelt of Fond du Lac, his children: Pat (Jeff) Ruhnke of Bella Vista, AR, Rick (Nancy) Bartelt of Appleton, Linda (John) Schroeder of Fond du Lac and Mike (Karen) Bartelt of Fond du Lac; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and his son-in-law Tom Lloyd of Fond du Lac.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jeanette, his daughter Mary Jo Lloyd, son-in-law Jim Herzig, his brothers and their spouses: Lynus, Vilas, Cletus and Gerald Bartelt, his sister Gladys Radeuchel.
VISITATION: The family will greet friends from 9:30 – 11:00 AM, on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Holy Family – Sacred Heart Church, 200 South Peters Avenue, Fond du Lac.
SERVICE: Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 30, 2022, at Holy Family – Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be at St. Charles Cemetery. Trier-Puddy American Legion Post #75 will conduct military graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials appreciated to Old Glory Honor Flight and Fond du Lac Humane Society.
