Raúl Reyes

Our beloved brother, Raúl Reyes, 79, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, in Madison, Wisconsin. He was born in Crystal City, Texas to Benigno and Aurora Reyes, both from the state of Coahuila, Mexico. He is survived by his brother, Oscar (Nina) Reyes and sister, María (Tom) Reyes. His many nieces, nephews and cousins in California, Texas, Florida and Washington state will miss his fun-loving personality and generosity.

Raúl graduated from Waupaca High School (WHS) in 1965 and the University of Wisconsin(UW)-Oshkosh in 1970. In high school, he excelled in sports and lettered in both baseball and football. In his senior year, he was selected as an All-State running back by the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association. At UW-Oshkosh, he played and lettered in football his freshman and sophomore years.

Raúl retired in 2005, after twenty-nine years of public service with the State of Wisconsin. He was most proud of his job as State Monitor Advocate overseeing statewide employment services for migrant and seasonal farm workers.
