Ruth Ida Altmann
Ruth Ida Altmann, 89, passed
away on Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home, with her
family at her side.
She was born on August 7,
1927, in Rubicon, Wisconsin, a daughter of Edward and Emma Lemke Radschlag. Ruth was a 1945 graduate of Rufus King High
School, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
On October 30, 1948, she
married Eldor F. Altmann. In 1956, they
moved to a farm in Rogersville and the family farmed there for 30 years.
Ruth was a member of St.
Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Rogersville where she helped gather clothes and
packed layettes for Lutheran World Relief.
She enjoyed working on this project for over 19 years. Ruth also enjoyed making quilts for Lutheran
World Relief with a group of people from church. She taught Sunday school and Confirmation
classes. Ruth liked cats, butterflies,
gardening, plants, flowers, angels, and visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by her four
children: Karen (Dennis) Oskola of
Ripon, Jim Altmann of Fond du Lac, Ron (Sarah) Altmann of Elkhorn, and Jan (Bob)
Simon of Johnsburg; five grandchildren: Blake, Samantha, Melissa, and Bryce Simon,
and Paige Oliver; and a brother, Ben Radschlag of Rubicon.
She was preceded in death by
her parents; an infant son, Thomas; two sisters: Norma Radschlag and Ellie Thiel; a
brother-in-law, Bill Thiel; a sister-in-law, Margie Radschlag; and her cousin
Marge Wardius who was a very dear friend of hers.
A private family memorial
service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials
to St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Rogersville are appreciated.
The family wishes to thank
the staff at the Fond du Lac Lutheran Home and Agnesian Hospice, Fond du Lac,
for the compassionate care that was given to Ruth.
