Shirley Ann Marie “Joas” Leitner
Shirley Ann Marie “Joas” Leitner, 81, of New Holstein, passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 at home.
She was born on October 4, 1933 in St. Joe, WI to the late, Walter and Catherine (Mueller) Joas.
Shirley was employed with Wells Manufacturing, Tecumseh Products, and Carnation Company, now known as Milk Specialty, where she met the love of her life, Ralph Leitner.
They were united in marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Stockbridge, WI, on September 30, 1961. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2000.
Shirley was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church formerly St. Martin Parish where she was also a member of The Christian Mothers. She was also a proud member of St. Martin Heritage Park.
Survivors include her six children, Timothy Leitner of Austin, TX, Barbara Leitner of New Holstein, Ralph Leitner of Chilton, Joseph (Cindy) Leitner of Kiel, Richard Leitner of New Holstein and Christine Leitner of Neenah; two sisters, Jeanette Schwobe and Patricia Woods; step granddaughter, Courtney (Adam) Heronymus; two step great-grandchildren, Ella and Cael; many nieces, nephews, and friends; and her two cat companions, Angel and Katrina.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Portman; and two brothers, Raymond and Ronald Joas.
Funeral services will be at 11:30am on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main Street) in Chilton with the Rev. Ryan Krueger officiating. Entombment will be in Knollwood Mausoleum. Friends may call at Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main Street) in Chilton from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 and on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church from 10:30am to 11:15am.
A memorial fund has been established in Shirley’s name for St. Martin Heritage Park.
