Steven Alfred Rahmer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Steven Alfred Rahmer, who lost his battle with stage IV pancreatic cancer on April 19th at the age of 65, surrounded by the love of his family at home.
Steve was born on June 26, 1960, in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, and graduated from Campbellsport High School in 1978. He went on to work as a prison guard before finding his passion in construction. He spent much of his career working for Cardinal Construction, traveled with Boldt, and later retired from Miron Construction. He was a man with a one-of-a-kind spirit and a dedicated drive. Steve had a sweet, goofy personality that could make anyone smile and a sense of humor that never faded. If you knew him, you knew his laugh, the love he led with that hugged you like a warm blanket, and his natural way of always taking care of those he loved.
Above all else, Steve’s life revolved around his family. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Karen L. Rahmer of Fond du Lac, whom he married on November 13, 1992, and a loving father who gave everything he had to his children. He is survived by his children Nathan Rahmer (Laura Rahmer) of North Carolina and Nicole Rahmer (Brent Lucas) of Fond du Lac. They were both blessed to be able to help care for him in his final days.
His greatest joy came from being a grandfather. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren Kaden Nolan, who was like a son to him, his special buddy Lawson Lucas, beautiful baby girl Annie Rahmer, and a baby Rahmer on the way, due in August to Nathan and Laura. They were truly the light of his life, and he took great pride in caring for them before his illness. It was beautiful to see how each of his grandchildren gravitated toward his warmth and attention while having so much fun with their Papa.
He is survived by his siblings Paul Rahmer (Cheryl Rahmer), Thomas Rahmer (Sheri Rahmer), Ann Meyers (Ken Meyers), Nancy Heil (Russ Heil), Michael Rahmer, and Robert Rahmer (Denise Rahmer). He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Virginia Rahmer of St. Cloud, Wisconsin, his brother Charles Rahmer, and his son, Shawn S. King.
Steve loved spending time with his family and friends, whether it was camping on their land, kicking off karaoke as one of the first on stage and singing his heart out, taking adventures to other campsites, ice fishing, working on construction projects or fixing things, or making simple trips to Menards and local thrift stores. It did not matter what he was doing as long as he was with the people he loved.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at SSM Cancer Center, the North Fond du Lac Clinic, his team at the Froedtert Faith Clinic, and Into the Woods Wellness Center for their compassion, care, and support throughout Steve’s journey. We are also deeply grateful to hospice nurse Krysten Steger, a dear family friend, for going above and beyond in caring for Steve in his final hours. We are also so grateful to his brother Paul and sister-in-law Cheryl for their continued support and for
helping get him to appointments, and to his friend Joyce for her care and kindness throughout this journey, and to all of the people who stood with us and helped ensure Steve knew he was not alone in this fight.
Steve fought hard and held on with everything he had. His strength, love for life, and deep devotion to his family will never be forgotten.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is at peace. His memory will live on in the laughter he gave us, the love he showed us, and the moments—big and small—that we will carry with us forever.
A celebration of life will be held on June 27, 2026, from 2:00–6:00 p.m. at the RS Vintage Steel Tractor Club, located at N10895 US-151, Chilton, WI 53014. Friends and family are welcome to camp at Columbia Park Campground, W6195 Calumet Rd., Malone, WI, as we gather to celebrate what would have been Steve’s 66th birthday from June 26 through June 28.
