Theresa A. Schneider

Theresa A. Schneider, 97, of Fond du Lac and formerly of Chilton, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, October 16, 2022 at St. Agnes Hospital. She was born February 21, 1925 in Chilton, the daughter of the late August and Anna (Rott) Ritzke. She was a 1943 graduate of Chilton High School.

On July 12, 1944 she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Herbert Schneider at St. Mary’s Chapel in Fort Riley, Kansas. Theresa worked in Kiel until her husband’s return home from the army. She began her career as a musician in 1944, playing with various bands throughout her life. She also entertained at nursing care facilities around the area. In 2015 she was inducted in the Wisconsin Polka Hall of Fame.

Theresa will be fondly remembered for her love for the Lord, her dedication to her family, and her musical talent. She is a member of Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac.

She is survived by 10 children, Phyllis, Howard, Leslie, Wayne, Stanley, Lawrence, Patricia, Joanne, Deanna, and Kevin; 27 grandchildren; and 26 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Theresa was preceded in death by her son, Eugene; two grandchildren, Jamie and Sandra; and one great grandchildren, Lucas.

The visitation will be held Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home. A private family service will be held Friday.
