Veronica K. Krumbein
Veronica K. Krumbein, 95, a resident of St. Francis Home for the past four years, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Monday, June 22, 2015. She was born October 29, 1919, in Princeton, the daughter of John and Agnes Disterhaft Woznik. On June 28, 1941, she married Walter “Augie” Krumbein at St. Mary’s Church in Fond du Lac. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1973. Veronica had a strong Catholic faith and was a member of Holy Family Parish-St. Mary’s Church. She was formerly employed by Infant Socks and then worked for Canvas Products/Medalist Industries for 21 years, retiring in 1984. She loved to crochet and made afghans for friends and family. She also loved to travel, with Las Vegas being her favorite destination. She was an incredibly strong woman and especially loved taking care of her family.
Surviving are three sons, Charles (Antonietta) Krumbein of Madison, James (Mary) Krumbein of St. Peter, and Robert (Linda) Krumbein of Fond du Lac, two daughters, Linda Moyer and Sandy (James) Salzwedel both of Fond du Lac. She is further survived by seven grandchildren, Rhonda (Scott) Raeder, Cheryl Blackstone, Daniel Moyer, Donato (Danielle) Krumbein, Christopher Krumbein, Brad (Keri) Sabel, and Mathew (Amanda) Sabel, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband, an infant son John, a daughter Susan Sabel, and all of her brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Visitation for Veronica K. Krumbein will be on Thursday, June 25, 2015, from 9 to 10 AM at St. Francis Nursing Home Chapel, 33 Everett Street Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Thursday at the chapel. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. The family request that memorials be directed to St. Francis Home.
