Vincent S. Fields
Vincent S. Fields, 98, passed away on October 1, 2021, at the Hospice Home of Hope. He was born on May 26, 1923, in Fond du Lac to Silas and Emily (DuFrane) Fields. Vincent married Lucille Yantz on January 13, 1943 in Waupun.
Vincent served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. After his service, he farmed in Byron for a short time, before taking a position at the Post Office in Fond du Lac. He then retired from the Post Office after more than 30 years. Vincent spent his retirement enjoying his hobbies of gardening, hunting and model trains.
Vincent was one of the first charter members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church – Holy Family Parish.
He knew us well, and he prepared us all well. He has shown us how to work hard, he’s shown us commitment, he has honored his church, family and country.
Vincent is survived by his children Richard (Lynda) Fields, Robert (Margaret) Fields, Roger (Alice) Fields and Rebecca (Mike) Leavitt; daughter-in-law, Lisa Battan; 15 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He is further survived by a brother, Daryl Fields, of Mineral Point, WI.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 77 years, Lucille; son, Ralph; granddaughter, Angela Fields; sisters, Blanche Vande Zande and Fern Draeger.
SERVICES: Vincent’s family invites relatives and friends for a time of visitation on Friday, October 8, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 200 S Peters Ave, Fond du Lac. Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation at 12:00 PM. Due to the pandemic, masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
