Wayne W. Mathers

Wayne “Chief” W. Mathers, 83,
of Fond du Lac, died Friday, June 16, 2017, at the Liberty House.

He was born on June 3, 1934,
in Fond du Lac, a son of William and Lena Bornemann Mathers.

On November 12, 1982, he
married Ruth Hochrein in Fond du Lac.

Wayne worked 31 years at
Mercury Marine, retiring in 1998. He
enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, traveling, going out to eat, and giving his
grandchildren quarters. Wayne was a
member of Fond du Lac Eagles Aerie #270, Wescot Gun Club, and Brothertown
Indian Nation.

He is survived by his wife,
Ruth Mathers of Fond du Lac; four children:
Scott Mathers of Fond du Lac, Steve (Joan Will) Mathers of Ripon, Lola
Voskuil of Fond du Lac, and Mike (Jan) Mathers of Fond du Lac; nine
grandchildren: Amy (special friend, Pat
Loof) Mathers, Anthony (Sara) Mathers, David Skrenes, Daniel (Heidi) Skrenes,
Randy Mathers, Brook Voskuil, Samantha Mathers, Tannar Mathers and Travis Geib;
six great-grandchildren: Brett Wiskow,
Nicholas Mathers, Makayla Mathers, Makenzie Mathers, Elliana Skrenes, and
Adaley Skrenes; a sister, Jeanette
Burton of Fond du Lac; brothers and sisters-in-law: Harry (Tess) Hochrein of Fond du Lac, Jan
(Buck) Hoffman of Fond du Lac, and Mary (Mark) Ryan of Fond du Lac, and nieces
and nephews.

He was preceded in death by
his parents; a sister, LaVerne (Harry) Lemke; a brother, Donald (Dorothy)
Mathers; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Mathers; a daughter-in-law, Erin
Mathers; and a special friend of Scott’s, Wendy Ennis.

VISITATION: The family will greet relatives and friends
from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel
& Crematory, 31 East Division Street, Fond du Lac.

SERVICE: A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m.
on Tuesday at Kurki-Mach Funeral Chapel & Crematory.

Cremation has taken place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials
may be directed to Alzheimer’s Association.
