Officer injured, struck by another police car, during 40 mile pursuit in Milwaukee County
A police pursuit in Milwaukee County Saturday afternoon, March 30, 2024, covered more than 40 miles and ended with the driver getting away after one of the officers involved was struck by another officers squad car, prompting supervisors to terminate the chase.
The pursuit started on the city’s northwest side near 107th and Good Hope where an officer spotted a vehicle wanted in a car jacking and shooting.
The chase proceeded north as far as Mequon Road in Washington County, then southeast through city streets all the way to the other side of the county to I-43. From there, the driver proceeded south to I-94 where he drove west. After exiting a few times and changing directions in the area of I-94 and 35th street, an officer attempted to throw a tire deflation device in front of the car, but the driver drove into the median to avoid them. To avoid being struck by the fleeing vehicle, the officer jumped out of the way but jumped into the path of a pursuing police cruiser.
The 30-year-old officer was taken to the hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries.
