Parking Ticket Scam

Fond du Lac Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein says an email KFIZ News received saying we had a parking ticket to pay for parking in a fire lane is a scam. It said the ticket could be paid for online or by credit card and concluded with “Best Wishes, Police Department.” Klein says their department doesn’t send out emails. He says it appears to be a scam going around certain parts of the country. He says there are red flags contained in the email; including it fails to specify the police department that issued the parking ticket. He says all their correspondence is done by letters sent to the registered owners of vehicles.The email even includes a phony parking fine number and a toll-free number you can call to pay with your credit card.
