Partial building collapse in Kaukauna closes main thoroughfare

Authorities in Kaukauna have a major street going through their city closed after part of a building collapsed onto the street Sunday, June 16, 2024.

The building at 319 Lawe Street, which is also State Highway 55, had a few hundred bricks topple from the top of the building onto the street below. No cars or pedestrians were in the area at the time of the collapse which city officials say could be related to the buildings age.

The street remains closed for fear that more of the building could come down. A building inspector will be on site to evaluate the situation sometime Monday and the street will be closed until further notice.
