Ripon PD Warns Of Scams

Ripon Police Department has been notified of scams popping up in the area, targeting the community and property owners who were impacted by the storms earlier this week.

A number of residents have reported receiving phone calls from the power company’s disconnection department, stating the customer has 30 minutes to give them a payment or services will be disconnected. Residents are reminded not to make any payments and contact Alliant Energy directly for billing updates.

Additionally, contractors have moved into the area to assist with storm cleanup, and residents are being asked to use caution, get an estimate in writing, check on insurance policies and references, prior to allowing any work to be done.
