Rollover Crash Kills 10-Year Old Girl

A 10-year old girl is dead after a violent crash in Winnebago County lsat week. Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call about a Mustang convertible being driven erratically along Highway 45 on Friday night – when the vehicle went off the road and rolled.

10-year old Kherington Brownell of Lancaster, Ohio died at the scene. Her 13-year old brother, Kage – along with her father, 58-year old Steven Brownell – were hospitalized with serious injuries.

Deputies believe excessive speed and alcohol were factors. Witnesses say Steven was driving when he lost control and went into the ditch. No other vehicles were involved.

The Sheriff’s Office released a statement calling it a “horrendous event” for rescuers, and added a personal note to the crash report, saying “Several of us have children these ages” – and offering condolences to the family.
