Salvation Army Winter Coat Collection Underway

Winter may still be a little while away, but colder
temperatures are coming and with that comes the need for donations of winter
coats to help those in need in the Fond du Lac area. The Salvation Army of Fond
du Lac launched their coat collection drive this week, and Social Services
Director Ron Jacobson says they are encouraging everyone to consider donating. “We
have close to 40 locations around the community where you can drop off a new,
or very gently-used coat, and you can bring them to the corps as well,”
Jacobson said. “We’ll be collecting them through the middle of October – so check
your closets – if you have a winter coat that you’re not wearing, or that your
son or daughter grew out of and it’s still in great shape, think about donating
it and help someone else who can’t afford one.” The Salvation Army says their
greatest need is coats for kids ages eight through 16 years of age, but adult
coats are needed as well. Sign up for coats and Christmas assistance through
the army is scheduled for October 17th and 19th.
