Sen. Johnson Demands Unredacted Records from HHS, FDA, CDC About COVID-19 Vaccine Adverse Events

On December 5, 2024, U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), ranking member of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, sent a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) demanding unredacted records on COVID-19 vaccine adverse events. These records were previously released through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests regarding these agencies’ detection of and response to myocarditis and pericarditis in post-vaccinated individuals.

The letter details the timeline in which CDC and FDA officials were made aware of reports showing myocarditis in young people following the administration of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. CDC and FDA officials were notified about a request from an Israeli Ministry of Health official to obtain a point of contact to discuss these reports. Due to heavy redactions in the FOIA documents, it remains unclear what was communicated regarding the ministry’s request.

“Your agencies’ lack of transparency is completely unacceptable. The public deserves the complete truth about your agencies’ awareness and lack of response to the glaring health risks associated with the COVID-19 vaccines,” the senator wrote.
