Severe weather becoming likely Monday night across area

Confidence is becoming more favorable for a line of severe thunderstorms to rake across Wisconsin tonight, however, forecast models are still in disagreement on exactly where the line will track.

Setting the stage for this line of storms is a mid level disturbance that will pass over, above a continuing unstable atmosphere at the surface with dewpoints in the low 60s.

Storms should form in central Minnesota late this afternoon and then track to the southeast into Wisconsin. One model paints a picture of the main line of storms passing into northeast Wisconsin, with the southern edge brushing the Fond du Lac area. While another model has the line passing farther south with Fond du Lac well in the middle of the path of the line of storms.

Both the National Weather Service and the Storm Prediction Center are going with the second scenario as the most likely.

Widespread winds of 50 to 75 miles per hour are going to be likely overnight when the storms approach.

The best guess at when the line of storms gets here is between 1 AM and 4 AM.
