SNOW!?!? Say It Aint So – Fond du Lac May See First Accumulating Snowfall Tuesday
The first accumulating snowfall of the season is expected to occur Tomorrow, starting in the early morning hours and lasting until mid to late afternoon.
Forecast models Monday morning are suggesting a 1-3 inch swath going over our area. As always its nearly impossible to say exactly who gets 3 and who gets 1, but the latest models are showing 1-3 inches falling over the southern Fond du Lac, Washington and Green Lake county area.
Timing has it starting in the early morning hours and lasting into the afternoon.
Usually our first snowfall doesn’t stick because it comes soon after the weather was warm so the warmer ground temperatures melts the first bit of snow that falls, but that may not be the case this time. We had lows the last two nights drop into the 30s, and tonight’s low will drop even more to the upper 20s so most of that snow is going to stick. If the ground is just warm enough for the first bit of snow to melt, that for sure wont be the case on overpasses. Because the cool wind flows above and below the bridges, the pavement on them will not be holding onto that warmth at all so use extreme caution going over bridges tomorrow morning when that snow starts.
