Matt Ryan connected with Mohamed Sanu from 11 yards out with 31 seconds left as the Falcons rallied to beat the Packers 33-32 Sunday in Atlanta. The Packers led 24-19 at halftime and found themselves behind 26-24 at the end of the third quarter. Aaron Rodgers connected with Jeff Janis for a 7 yard touchdown with 3:58 left and Rodgers ran in for a two point conversion to give Green Bay a 32-26 lead. The Falcons then went on an 11 play 75 yard drive that led to the eventual winning score.
Aaron Rodgers threw for 248 yards and four touchdowns in the game, including one to Jordy Nelson and one each to rookies Geronimo Allison and Trevor Davis along with the one to Jeff Janis. Rodgers was the team’s leading rusher with 6 carries for 10 yards. Jordy Nelson caught 4 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown to lead the team.
The Packers are 4-3 and return to Lambeau Field to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Pregame at 1pm, kickoff at 3:25.
Elsewhere in the NFC North, Houston built an early 17-3 lead and held off a late Lions rally to win 20-13 in Houston. Matthew Stafford threw for 240 yards and a touchdown in the loss for Detroit. The Lions are 4-4 and play at Minnesota next Sunday.
Tonight, the Bears host the Vikings at Soldier Field. Coverage begins at 7pm on KFIZ.
College Football:
The Badgers climbed three spots to number eight in both national polls following their overtime win over Nebraska on Saturday night. In the Associated Press poll, the top six remains unchanged with Alabama, Michigan, Clemson, Washington, Louisville and Ohio State holding the same positions from last week. Rounding out the top ten are Texas A&M at 7, the Badgers at 8, Nebraska at 9 and Florida at 10. Wisconsin plays at Northwestern on Saturday, an 11am kickoff.
College Basketball: The Badgers defeated UW-Platteville 86-58 in an exhibition game at the Kohl Center Sunday afternoon. Bronson Koenig had 12 points, Nigel Hayes and Jordan Hill each had 10 in the win. The Badgers open the regular season at home against Central Arkansas on November 11th.
NBA: The Bucks fall to 1-2 with a 98-83 loss to Detroit. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 17 points to lead Milwaukee. Jabari Parker had 13 and Greg Monroe had 11. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 21 to lead the Pistons. The Bucks play at New Orleans on Tuesday.
World Series: The Cubs fought off elimination with a 3-2 win over Cleveland at Wrigley Field Sunday Night. Cleveland leads the series 3-2, and can clinch the series at home on Tuesday in game six.
