Waupun American Legion baseball saw their season end yesterday at the Central Plains Division 2 Regional Tournament in Waupun. Post 210 lost to in-state foe Viroqua 5-4, a team Waupun defeated last weekend to win the class A state championship. Waupun led 3-1 going into the 4th inning, but Viroqua rallied to score 4 runs in the top of the fourth and held on for the win. Post 210 finishes the year with a 25-8 record.
An emotional speech from former Packers quarterback Brett Favre highlighted the enshrinement ceremonies at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio Saturday night. Favre was the final speaker of the night and spoke without a script, talking for 36 and a half minutes to wrap up the night. Favre talked at length about his family, and fought back tears when mentioning his late father Irvin and his influence on his career. Favre said that it became his goal to reach the Hall of Fame to acknowledge the influence his father had on his life. Favre said to “never discount the importance of being a father, and the statements you make. Whether you think your kids hear … You’re very important to your children. The lesson is: We come and go very quickly. So love them each and every day.”. Favre also added that he had “no regrets” when it came to his career and that he will “always be remembered as a Packer”.
The Packers open the preseason with the Hall of Fame Game tonight against the Colts in Canton, Ohio. Pregame starts at 5pm with a 7pm kickoff on News/Talk 1450 KFIZ.
Former Packers fullback John Kuhn has signed with the New Orleans Saints. It was announced the 33 year old signed a one year deal with the team on Saturday. Kuhn thanked Green Bay fans on Twitter, saying that he has great memories from his time playing for the Packers and nothing will be able to replace them.
The Brewers belted out 19 hits in a 15-6 clobbering of the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday night. Keon Broxton went five for five at the plate with a double and two RBI, while Ryan Braun went three for four with two home runs and 7 RBI in the game. Matt Garza got the win, he improves to 3-4 on the year. The final game of the series is this afternoon, a 3:10 first pitch. We will not carry the game on KFIZ, due to Packers pregame starting at 5pm.
