Week 1 of the NFL season wrapped up on Monday night with a pair of games.  In Washington, the Chip Kelly era began for the Eagles with a 33-27 road win.  LeSean McCoy ran for 184 yards and a TD in the win.  RGIII threw for 329 yards and 2 TDs in the loss.  In the 2nd game last night, Houston rallied from 17 points down to beat San Diego 31-28.  Matt Schaub threw for 328 yards and 3 TDs. 


The Packers take today off move ahead to thinking about Sunday’s home opener against the Redskins.  Mike McCarthy told the media on Monday he would have injury updates on defensive back’s Morgan Burnett and Casey Hayward on Wednesday when they get back to work.  Sunday’s game kicks off at Noon and you’ll hear it on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ and kfiz.com.


San Francisco’s Jim Harbaugh took another shot at Packers linebacker Clay Matthews on Monday.  Harbaugh was upset with Matthews pregame comments about getting tough with Colin Kaepernick and then a late hit he was penalized for during the game on the QB.   He said Matthews needed to work on his image of being a tough guy after he slapped 49ers tackle Joe Staley.    


The Brewers open up a three game series against the NL Central leading Cardinals tonight in St. Louis.  Wily Peralta takes on Shelby Miller.  Coverage begins at 6:40pm on KFIZ.


NASCAR has made a major move by removing Martin Truex, Junior from the Chase For the Championship and adding Ryan Newman.  Truex’s teammate Clint Bowyer spun out late in the race at Richmond over the weekend, allowing Truex to finish with enough points to grab the final spot in the postseason.


Rafael Nadal won this 13th Grand Slam tennis championship winning the U.S. Open in 4 sets over Novak Djokovic. 


St. Mary’s Springs is #1 in this weeks Associated Press Small Schools High School Football Poll.  Edgar is 2nd.  In the Large School’s Division Homestead is #1.  Kimberly is #2, Appleton North #5 and Oshkosh North #9.  West DePere is the top team in the Medium Schools Division with Chilton at #10.  This Friday night, Fond du Lac hosts Stevens Point and Fruth and on Saturday night, St. Mary’s Springs hosts Lomira.  You’ll hear both games on KFIZ and streaming at kfiz.com.
