The Packers acquired Running Back Knile Davis from Kansas City in exchange for a conditional draft pick. The 5-11, 227 pound Davis played college football at the University of Arkansas was a 3rd round draft pick of the Chiefs in 2013. He played in 50 games for Kansas City, rushing for a total of 775 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also caught 31 passes for 260 yards and one touchdown. He’s also averaged 27.2 yards per return on kickoff returns, which is good for 6th in the NFL. Davis will wear #30 for Green Bay. Davis adds needed depth at running back as Eddie Lacy is dealing with an ankle injury and James Starks deals with an injured knee.
The Packers also placed Cornerback Sam Shields on Injured Reserve with the designation to return. Shields suffered a concussion in week one against Jacksonville and has not played since. Shields will have to miss eight more weeks before he can have the chance to return.
Badgers are getting ready to face Iowa on Saturday as the two teams battle for the Heartland Trophy at Kinnick Stadium. Linebacker Jack Cichy says Iowa runs the ball well, and for the defense the Badgers need to focus on winning the line of scrimmage and stopping them on first down.
