Spring Primary Election Today

The spring primary elections are today for Wisconsin.

The most heated and watched race in the election is the race for a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Jennifer Dorow, Daniel Kelly, Everett Mitchell, and Janet Protasiewicz are running in the primary for the open seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

The top two vote-getters will advance to the general election on April 4th.

The open seat comes as Justice Patience Roggensack’s term will expire on July 31, and she will not be running for re-election.

While supreme court elections are officially nonpartisan, the court is considered to have a 4-3 conservative majority with Roggensack—a member of the court’s conservative majority.

This election will determine the ideological control of the court.

Mitchell and Protasiewitz are running as liberal candidates while Kelly and Dorow are running as conservative candidates.

Local 6th district congressman Glen Grothman announced yesterday that he was endorsing Dorow, saying he believes she has a better understanding of what’s at stake in this election.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. If you are not registered, you can do so at your polling place with a document that provides proof of residence, which needs to have the voter’s name and current address. Examples include a bank statement, electric bill or current and valid Wisconsin driver’s license or state ID.

If you need to find your polling location, you can do so at the website myvote.wi.gov.
