State Trooper Casper honored with Kiel Post Office name change

The post office in Kiel has officially been named the Trooper Trevor J. Casper Post Office Building after Congressman Glen Grothman pushed for the name change.

Introduced in September 2023, Grothman led the Wisconsin Congressional delegation on the bill, which was comprised of seven other state Representatives. In June of this year, the bill passed through the U.S. House of Representatives and on November 25th, President Biden signed it into law.

Trooper Casper, who is from Kiel, became the youngest police officer killed in the line of duty in Wisconsin March 24th of 2015 on his first solo assignment when he found himself behind a suspected homicide and bank robbery suspect. Casper was shot and killed in Fond du Lac attempting to apprehend the suspect, though was able to return fire killing the suspect.

A ceremony spotlighting the name change will be scheduled at a later date.
