Thanksgiving 2022 Holiday Travel Outlook

AAA has released their Thanksgiving travel outlook for 2022. The organization expects Thanksgiving travel to approach pre pandemic levels with nearly 1.1 million Wisconsinites traveling for the holiday.
Nationally, 54.6 million Americans are forecast to travel 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving.
Overall national and local travel totals have increased back to less than 1% shy of the pre-pandemic high in 2019.
Air travel from Wisconsin will exceed pre-pandemic levels and set a new record high this year with over 100,000 people flying to their holiday destination, while just under 1 million Wisconsinites will be driving.
AAA says While gas prices and other inflationary pressures weigh on budgets, travel remains a top priority for Americans, particularly during the holidays.
The group says the worst times to travel the day before Thanksgiving is between 11 AM and 8PM and the day of Thanksgiving would be between 11 AM and 3 PM and
suggests hitting the road either before 8AM or after 8PM the day before, or before 11AM the day of Thanksgiving.
