Timber Rattlers & Marian University partner to bring Northwoods League to FDL

The Northwoods League is coming to Fond du Lac thanks to a partnership between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and Marian University that was announced Monday.
Appleton Baseball Club, Inc., which does business as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, has formed Fond du Lac Baseball Club, LLC to oversee the new Northwoods League team. Rob Zerjav, president and general manager for the Timber Rattlers will serve as team president with Ryan Moede assuming the role of team’s general manager. Herr-Baker Field on the Marian University campus will be the new home for the Northwoods League team, and will be leased by Fond du Lac Baseball Club, LLC.
Herr-Baker Field will be renovated to a 2,000 person capacity, including two picnic decks, additional concession stands, restrooms a team store and other amenities. Initial cost estimates for the renovation are around $1.5 million.
The Northwoods League is an amateur, wood-bat summer league with teams comprised of college players from around the country. The new Fond du Lac Team will be the ninth team located in Wisconsin, joining teams in Eau Claire, Green Bay, Kenosha, La Crosse, Madison, Mequon, Wausau and Wisconsin Rapids. The new team in Fond du Lac will begin play in May of 2017.
