Walker Claims Wisconsin Governor Powers Will Remain Strong

Governor Scott Walker claims the powers of his Democratic
successor will remain among the strongest of any governor in the country, even
if he signs off on a list of bills passed in a lame-duck session.

Walker released a lengthy
post on Facebook, describing what he calls “straightforward criteria” for
reviewing the bills passed last week. This is just the latest sign that Walker plans to sign the
legislation into law.

Democratic Governor-elect Tony Evers and even a number of
Republicans, including former Governor Scott McCallum, have urged Walker to veto the bills.

Walker’s
criteria for deciding whether to approve the bills depends on whether they
increase transparency, accountability, and stability in government – and if
they protect taxpayers.
