Winter says don’t count me out yet as cold temps move in today

Winter makes a rare appearance today, Friday, February 23, 2024, as a cold front swoops over the state from north to south bringing in some colder Canadian air with it. But what will seem like a dip in temperatures well below what we are used to, the reality is, the temperatures will not be below normal at all, rather they will be right where they should be this time of year based on averages.

We will also likely see some snowfall with the cold front. Snow is expected to start falling around, or shortly after noon today, but not much is expected to fall. Most areas will see under an inch.

The cold front is associated with a low pressure system centered all the way over just north of Maine today. The trailing cold front is just now drifting to the south over us, but the cold air won’t be hanging around long. After a quick blast of frigid temperatures around 10 tonight, temperatures will rebound tomorrow back to the mid 30s on their way back up to 50 Sunday and even the low 60s by Tuesday.
