Wisconsin Adopt A Highway litter pickup collects 171 tons of garbage in 2024
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has released its numbers from the Adopt-A-Highway program for 2024
According to the website wisconsindot.gov, Over 5,900 miles of state highways were adopted in Wisconsin through the program.
Nearly 15,000 volunteers from more than 3,000 groups took part in work on adopted roadways, working around 5,400 hours and picking up 171 tons of garbage.
In the Adopt-A-Highway program, each qualified group takes responsibility for litter control on approximately a two-mile segment of state highway.
