Woman Eludes Police In Two Counties For 2 Days Before Being Captured

A 42-year-old woman from Mazomanie, Wis is in police custody after fleeing a traffic stop after being pulled over for a traffic infraction Tuesday evening August 23, 2020 in northern Dodge County.

At 6:56 PM a Dodge County Sheriff Sergeant pulled Autumn Gernon over on State Highway 151 near Redwood Road.

After giving a false name, Gernon sped off north to County Highway M and after striking the officer’s car, lost control and crashed on Milligan Road into a cornfield, south of Waupun.

Gernon fled on foot into the cornfield and was not able to be located despite officers using a K9 and drone.

During the afternoon of Wednesday, August 24, 2022 a female matching the description of Gernon was seen in the Waupun area, however, after an extensive search, she was unable to be located.

At 3:53 AM on Thursday, August 25, 2022 a report of a female yelling for help was received at Landall’s trailer park, 916 S. Madison Street in the city of Waupun.

The female was identified as Gernon and she was taken into custody.

Multiple charges will be forwarded to the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office in this case, including felony fleeing/eluding a law enforcement officer.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in this incident by the Waupun Police Department, Beaver Dam Police Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol.
