Garbage in garbage truck catches fire near Waupun

The Waupun Fire Department was called out Wednesday, October 16, 2024, to extinguish a pile of garbage that was dumped from a garbage truck after the driver noticed it was on fire.

Just after 1 PM, the fire department responded to the fire which was located in a private business parking lot near the intersection of County AW and Highway 49, just west of Waupun.

Upon arrival crews found a large pile of trash on fire and requested mutual aid for water trucks from Alto and Brandon Fire Departments.

Once extinguished, Harter’s Fox Valley Disposal, the company that owned the truck, sent a crew to clean up the mess.
