Its Interstate 41 Now
Governor Scott Walker announced Thursday that Highway 41 in the eastern part of the state is now an Interstate. I-41 begins at the I-94/US 41 interchange located about one mile south of the Wisconsin/Illinois border. It follows I-94 north to the Mitchell Interchange, I-894 and US 45 around Milwaukee and then joins US 41 north to Green Bay where it ends at the I-43 Interchange. Mark Gottlieb the Secretary of the State Department of Transportation thanked the Governor and all the elected officials who helped the new interstate become a reality including former Congressman Tom Petri. The new designation is expected to create more economic development opportunities. More than 3,000 highway signs will have to be changed with the new interstate designation. To read more click here.
