Lt. Governor Barnes Says Visits By Biden, Trump Very Different

Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes said President Donald Trump “virtually celebrated” the Illinois teen who killed protesters in Kenosha last week. Barnes was a guest on the  “CBS This Morning” program and said “Joe Biden’s trip was all about listening. It was different, he didn’t make incendiary remarks before he showed up to Wisconsin. He said that as a presidential candidate, he wanted to demonstrate the type of leadership that he would provide to this nation. That started by listening, and that’s exactly what he did. He didn’t spout off and say things that would tear this community further apart.”

Barnes joined Governor Tony Evers and other Democrats who opposed Trump’s visit in the wake of protests and violence following the shooting of Jacob Blake by a Kenosha police officer. Unlike Trump, Biden met with the Blake family while he was in Kenosha. It’s not known if the Blake family had made the same request of Biden as they did of Trump, that their lawyer be present during any meeting or phone conversation.
