Semi Fire In Washington County

A semi carrying 45,000 pounds of paper product caught fire on Highway 41
in the Town of Addison early Friday morning. Washington County Sheriff’s
officials say the blaze began after one of the rear tires on the semi tractor
experienced a mechanical failure. The blaze quickly spread to the trailer
carrying the paper products. Allenton and St. Lawrence Fire Departments responed
to the fire. The County Highway Department off loaded the trailer so the fire
could be extinguished. The semi- ractors was extensively damaged and the trailer
and the paper it was carrying was a total loss. The time of the fire call was
1:48 a.m.
