111 sturgeon harvested on 4th day of season – will rain and warmth all but end the season today?

The fourth day of sturgeon spearing is in the books with the DNR saying another 111 sturgeon were harvested Tuesday, February 17, 2026.

The northeast stations are still registering the most with 16 at North Winnebago, 23 at Stockbridge and 26 at Quinney.

The brings the total sturgeon harvested so far this season up to 1,371.

There were 43 adult females harvested yesterday, meaning there are only 62 adult female sturgeon needed to hit the 90% trigger, However, the DNR says they expect effort to drop off considerably due to rainfall and warm temperatures overnight. In addition, temperatures will climb well into the 50s Wednesday. The DNR urges anyone still venturing out to check with your local fishing clubs for updates on ice conditions and bridge closures.

Another four sturgeon over 100 pounds were harvested with a 135 pound, 78.5-inch, female registered at the Downtown Oshkosh registration station. This brings the over 100 pound fish total for the season up to 45, compared to a total of 63 last year.
