A 19-year-old man from Wabeno is in custody after leading County Sheriff’s Deputies on a high speed chase on Highway 26 that ended with his car getting stuck in a creek. A deputy running radar on Highway 26 near County Highway T in the Town of Springvale clocked a car going 105 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone around around 4:40 this morning. The deputy tried to stop the car, but the driver continued north at high speeds, eventually turning into a farm property near the Village of Rosendale. The driver attempted to evade deputies by driving into a corn field, a hay field and then ran from his car after it got stuck in the creek. He was arrested a short time later and is being held on numerous charges, including felony eluding and OWI.
