$2 million bond set for illegal immigrant accused of stabbing mother in Fond du Lac
The man arrested for stabbing his mother in Fond du Lac on Saturday, March 21, 2026, made his initial court appearance Wednesday, April 1.
Luis Antonio Sevilla Benavidez is facing charges of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide, Mayhem, and Aggravated Battery. All three charges include Domestic Abuse and Dangerous Weapon enhancers.
At the court appearance, Fond du Lac County Circuit court Judge Tricia Walker set cash bond at $2 million. Benavidez is scheduled to return to court on April 17th for preliminary hearing status conference.
Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney says Benavidez is believed to be from Nicaragua and the Department of Homeland Security advised that the he has no legal status and is illegally in the United States.
The charges against him stem from a disturbance Fond du Lac Police were called to on Hamilton Place, after receiving an abandoned 911 call. Upon arrival police heard a woman screaming and entered the house to find Benavidez stabbing the woman.
