21-year-old seriously injured in crash early Sunday morning

On Sunday, August 11, 2024 at approximately 2:40am, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received an iPhone crash notification on County Highway G near Chestnut Road, located in the Township of Marshfield.

Deputies from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with Saint Cloud Fire, Saint Cloud First Responders, Mount Calvary Ambulance, City of Fond du Lac Ambulance and ThedaStar Helicopter were dispatched to the scene.

Through investigation it was determined the vehicle was traveling north on G near Chestnut Road when it left the roadway after a curve, striking a driveway embankment and cement culvert. This caused the car to roll down a steep embankment.

The operator and lone occupant, a 21-year-old New Holstein man, was flown from the scene by ThedaStar to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center – Neenah with potentially serious injuries. He was wearing his seatbelt. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash and the operator was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated. The investigation is ongoing by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
