3-year-old killed after being shot by 7-year-old

Authorities in Marquette County are investigating a fatal shooting over the weekend where they say a 7-year-old shot and killed a 3-year-old.

Just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, the sheriff’s office responded to the shooting in the town of Crystal Lake, about half way between Wautoma and Montello.

Marquette County Sheriff Joseph Konrath issued a statement saying “This is a devastating situation for everyone involved, and our hearts go out to the family and the community as they navigate this unimaginable loss.”

Konrath went on to say no other information was going to be released at this time, as this is a sensitive incident involving minors. The sheriff’s office says the investigation is ongoing.
