30-year-old female Fond du Lac resident in custody after short police pursuit

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, the City of Fond du Lac Police Department apprehended a 30-year-old female Fond du Lac resident following a pursuit. The driver was taken into custody and is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on the charges of Recklessly Endangering Safety, Fleeing/Eluding, and Operating While Impaired.
At approximately 11:32 p.m., Fond du Lac Police Department Officers responded to a reckless driving complaint in the area of W. Johnson Street and N. Peters Avenue. The Fond du Lac County Communications Center advised that a dark colored SUV was swerving between lanes, operating without headlights, and attempted to ram the witness’s vehicle. The witness was able to safely pull over and meet with a Fond du Lac Police Department Officer while additional officers searched the area for the vehicle.
A Fond du Lac Police Department Officer observed the vehicle eastbound on W. Johnson Street near N. Pioneer Road and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle continued eastbound through several intersections before it conducted a U-turn at N. Seymour Street to now face westbound on W. Johnson Street before initially pulling over. Fond du Lac Police Department Officers attempted to order the driver out of the vehicle, but she did not comply and sped off westbound on W. Johnson Street.
Fond du Lac Police Department Officers pursued the vehicle westbound on W. Johnson Street out of the city. Speeds reached approximately 65 mph. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol joined the pursuit. Stop-Sticks, a tire deflation device, was successfully deployed near Highway 23 and County Road Y where the driver then slowed down and pulled over. The vehicle pursuit was approximately six miles and took approximately six minutes.
The driver and only occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody and is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on multiple criminal charges.
The City of Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
