UPDATE: As of 11:30 AM the crashes have been cleared but adverse driving conditions still exist.

Shortly after 10 AM today, Saturday, December 24, 2022, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office and Wisconsin State Patrol were responding to a report of multiple crashes on the southbound side of I-41 on the Lake Butte des Morts bridge near Oshkosh.

Wisconsin D.O.T. cameras showed all three lanes of traffic at a complete standstill.

Officials advise if you need to get north or south of the area, to use local roads going through Oshkosh to bypass the bridge.

Per Wisconsin State Patrol dispatch, drivers are turning around and going the wrong way to get off the highway onto the 45 on ramp to southbound 41.

Strong winds are causing whiteout conditions on the bridge.

At noon a Wisconsin State Trooper is advising black ice on the bridge.
