47-Year-Old Dies After Falling Through Ice In Green Bay

Thin ice on Wisconsin water has claimed another life over the weekend.

The Green Bay Police Department Dive Team recovered a body from the East River Saturday morning after responding to the area when a passerby saw a backpack near a hole in the ice.

What started as a water rescue around 6 AM, turned into a recovery after several hours passed with no victim being found.

Firefighters were finally able to find a 47-year-old man around 10:15 Saturday morning.

Officials continue to warn that ice on local lakes, rivers and ponds is dangerously thin and week and people should refrain from venturing out on it.
