6 Dead In Illinois Shooting, Suspect Arrested

A suspect was arrested Monday (7/4/2022) following a shooting during a parade in Highland Park, Illinois.
The suburb is located just north of Chicago along Lake Michigan, and is home to around 30,000 residents.
Six people were killed and at least 30 others were wounded when the gunman opened fire on spectators watching a July 4th parade.
The incident occurred just before 10:15 a.m. Monday, with the gunman using a nearby rooftop as cover, and firing rounds into the crowd using a high-powered rifle.
A “person of interest” was identified as 21-year old Robert E. Crimo III, who was believed to be operating a silver 2010 Honda Fit, with Illinois license plate DM80653. Crimo was arrested Monday evening just before 7:00 p.m.
The FBI was on the scene Monday evening at what was believed to be the home of Crimo, located in Highwood, which is a suburb just north of Highland Park.
