17-Year-Old Killed In Fond du Lac County Crash

A 17-year-old Markesan man was killed in an overnight crash this weekend.

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies along with the Alto Fire Department and Lifestar Ambulance, were dispatched to the single-vehicle crash on Lake Maria Rd near Oak Grove Rd southwest of Alto.

According to police, the vehicle struck a guardrail on a bridge, and the driver reportedly had life-threatening injuries.

When emergency responders arrived on the scene, they found the man to be not breathing, and with no pulse.

Life-saving efforts were attempted, but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

He was the only occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

An investigation into the crash revealed he had been traveling westbound on Lake Maria Road when the vehicle left the pavement, entering the north shoulder and then struck the north guardrail face of a bridge that crosses a waterway near the intersection.

The vehicle sustained significant damage as a result of the crash.

Police say Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in this crash.
