Total Lunar Eclipse Visible Tonight
A total lunar eclipse will be visible over Wisconsin tonight in the predawn hours.
The earths shadow will start to appear on the moon at 3:09 AM and will completely cover the moon starting at 4:16 AM as Earth passes directly between the
moon and sun.
Totality will last nearly 1 1/2 hours ending at 5:41 AM.
Known as a blood moon, it will appear a reddish-orange in color. This is a result of sunlight bending as it hits our atmosphere like light going through a prism. All the colors bend to an extent that they pass the moon without hitting it with the exception of red. The moon is just far enough away that the reds still shine on the moon.
The National Weather Service forecast tonight calls for partly cloudy skies giving a good chance to see the eclipse.
This will be the last total lunar eclipse for the US until 2025.
