4th Active K9 Added To Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office recently welcomed a new K9 partner to the department.

Rip is the name of a two-year-old German Shepherd added to the force which now brings the departments total K9 officers up to 4.

Rip was born in Bulgaria, and trained in Hungry in drug detection, tracking, article searches, and criminal apprehension.

Numerous large drug busts on I-41, often initiated by a K9 alert shows that the need for the K9s in the county is only increasing.

In a press release from the sheriff’s office, they say, “We are truly appreciative of the community’s generosity and support of this program which remains
fully donor funded. We will continue to share posts of their great work in detecting and removing drugs from our streets, apprehending criminals, and of course the hugs and scratches from kids and adults alike at community events.”

Rip will be partnered with Deputy Nate Birkholz, who has been a patrol deputy with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office for four years.

Rip becomes the 8th K9 to be active in Fond du Lac County including 4 with the City of Fond du Lac Police Department.
