Annual Pyrotechnics Guild International Going On In Oshkosh This Week

The Pyrotechnics Guild International is holding it’s annual convention in Oshkosh this week. A move from the grounds at Wisconsin International Raceway near Kaukauna where the organization has held the event for the last three years. The move to Oshkosh was needed after neighbors of the previous location complained about noise the convention brings with it.

This year, the event is being held at the Sunnyview Expo Center from Aug. 12 through 18.

Oshkosh City Manager Mark Rohloff said he expects the event to be the city’s second largest, behind EAA’s Airventure. Like Airventure, the convention brings people from all over the world.

The weeklong event includes workshops on building fireworks, firework competitions, seminars on the latest technology and safety, and a large pyro display set to music.

The fireworks display is set for Friday night and is available to the public for $10 for advanced tickets or $15 at the gate and a $5 per car parking fee.
