Fire Danger Jumps To High With No Rain In Near Future

With the combination of high temperatures, low humidity, and gusty winds comes the threat of wildfires this weekend. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has
issued a high level of alert for wildland fires for the lower 2/3 of Wisconsin for today.

Humidity values will drop to around 40% today with no rain in the forecast.

Sunday looks to be even worse as humidity values drop to the lower 30s but also winds will be gusting to around 25 miles per hour during the day.

While no restrictions are in place for outdoor burning, the DNR says extreme caution should be used to keep fires contained and make sure fires are completely out before leaving them unattended.

A massive wildfire which occurred in Waushara County earlier this year was blamed on an outdoor fire that rekindled after it was thought to be out. Hundreds of acres burned in that fire as well as some homes and outbuildings.
